And so it begins...

Joyful!  It turns out that when one is so full of joy, one can become quite exhausted!  It is quite normal for your children to be completely wiped out after a day at school.  They will build up their stamina gradually.  The beginning of kindergarten is a busy time.  We are practicing how to focus our attention in different ways.  We are learning how to navigate a brand new social scene.  We are refining our ability to recognize when it is appropriate to run and when it is better to walk.  We are cultivating a deeper sense of personal space and what that means when we are walking in a line.  There are many layers to decipher in the code of a new set of behavioral expectations.  This is challenging and important work for your children.
They are handling the task wonderfully.  We have clearly stated to them that kindergarten is a place where they will be happy and safe.  They have been told that they will have A LOT of fun!  They are so excited to learn new things.  We capitalize of this inherent joy by presenting new challenges to them in the spirit with which they approach it.  Learning is fun!  Not knowing something is an exciting place to be, because new learning is around the corner.
Here are a few pictures of our time so far...
