Graphing Shapes

We have taken several pictures of shape creations that the children made from nature.  We also took pictures of shapes that the children noticed as we took a "Shape Walk" around the school.  As we watched a slide show of these photos recently, we were able to apply our new knowledge of the Spanish names for the shapes.  As they named a shape that they saw in each photo in English and Spanish, they also came up to our Shape Graph to draw the shape in the appropriate column.  We learned about how graphs give us a lot of information quickly.  We realized that graphs allow us to determine quantities without even having to count!  (Also known in kindergarten as, "Number Magic")
